Peak PACE Solutions team to present at National PACE Association conference

ST. LOUIS – Oct. 1, 2009 – Peak PACE Solutions Chief Operating Officer Richard O. Schamp, M.D., will present “Interdisciplinary Teams” during the PACE Basics pre‐conference sessions at the National PACE Association conference on Sunday, Oct. 18, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Patricia Bailey, Peak PACE Solutions plan management services director, will join Schamp to present “Health Plan Management” during the pre‐conference.

PACE programs are based on the belief that it is better for the well‐being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families to be served in the community whenever possible. PACE centers are at the core of PACE programs. Through these centers, seniors have access to comprehensive medical and social services, including a team of health care providers versed in the needs of elderly patients, nutrition, adult day programs, physical and occupational therapy and transportation to and from the center.

“I am a strong proponent of PACE programs,” Schamp said. “My presentations will highlight the value of the PACE model. Interdisciplinary teams of caregivers who manage cases holistically are not only more efficient, but lead to the better overall health of the patient. And when PACE programs are managed effectively, savings are achieved for all parties.”

Schamp has served as the medical director of Alexian Brothers Community Services, a PACE organization in St. Louis, and was the vice chair of the National PACE Association’s Primary Care Committee. Bailey acted as CMS submission expert during the transition from demonstration to permanent provider status for Alexian Brothers Community Services in St. Louis – the first PACE organization to achieve this success. She worked for eight years in accounting and compliance roles and two years as health information management director for another PACE organization.
